Back to School Tips from Jimmy’s Drycleaners!
Can you believe it? Many of the kids are already back in school with their brand new spiral notebooks, backpacks and clothes. Here are some tips from Jimmy’s Cleaners to help you get an upper hand on the punishment back-to-school season dishes out on your kids’ wardrobes.
STAINS
Kids are messy. And so are their clothes, especially at school time. Pen, pencil, crayon, and even ink sometimes color more than just the page. Fortunately, crayon is generally pretty easy to remove from garments. Do not attempt to scrape the crayon from the fabric. Instead, coat the area with a generous amount of liquid detergent and let the garment soak overnight. The next day, wash the garment as directed on the care label. Another tip: WD-40 on a cleaning cloth removes crayon from hard surfaces very well.
Pencil marks on clothes clean up quickly using a clean eraser carefully, rubbing lightly. Then apply liquid soap. Ink stains? Now this is one you definitely want to leave to the pros. And remember, heat sets ink stains. Act quickly for the best results, before the stain permanently sets in.
If the garment is an item you would normally dry clean, leave the stain as is, and bring the item to us. Many home remedies are potentially very damaging, and it will be easier to remove if you don’t disturb it.
