Mustard contains Turmeric, which makes it yellow in color. It is this Turmeric that makes mustard stains so difficult to remove. For this reason, it is important in order to avoid a permanent stain on your clothing that you address these stains immediately. When you have encountered a fresh stain and the mustard comes in contact with your clothes you should blot it as quickly as possible. Never rub the stain since doing so will not only make the stain larger, but will also set it into the clothing.

If the stained garment is washable, you will want to attempt to remove the stain by treating the garment with lemon juice. Apply a bit of lemon juice to the stain and then run it under cold water. If the specific garment is not washable it is imperative, to avoid a permanent stain, that you get your garment over to our top-notch dry cleaners so our specialists can treat the garment and remove the stain successfully.

For old mustard stains the stain removing protocol is a bit different. If you have allowed the mustard to dry on your garment you would need to first scrape off the excess dried mustard. Thereafter, you can either use a half teaspoon of dishwashing soap mixed with a cup of water and a few drops of white vinegar or mix 3 parts dishwashing soap with 1 part alcohol to do the trick. To begin the process, place a paper towel underneath the damaged garment. Next, apply your solution of choice from the options above and allow it to soak into the garment for 10-15 minutes. After soaking, rinse the stained area with hot water and then wash the garment in your home washing machine. If you find this attempt unsuccessful, then hurry on down to our dry-cleaning facility where our experts will take care of removing the stubborn stain for you and make your garment look like new.
